Corporate citizenship is a priority at Newport News Shipbuilding. We place a very high value on community involvement and believe our investments in the community support both our strategic business goals and our responsibility to be a successful corporate citizen.
To make the most effective use of our resources, we have identified priority issues and key initiatives for investment in local communities through the Newport News Shipbuilding Contributions Program. We hope to inspire next generation scientists, engineers and technicians and focus our support on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs. We also contribute to programs that support our military/veterans, and to health and human services.
As a rule, we do not provide grants to: religious organizations; political groups; fraternal organizations; individuals; athletic groups or activities, including charity-benefit sporting events; bands or choirs; capital campaigns; organizations providing services primarily to animals; communities outside of the United States, organizations whose programs discriminate based on race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
