Parking Information

Due to the parking demands at Newport News Shipbuilding, employees receive parking decals for use in company parking lots. Any vehicle occupying a space in an NNS parking lot or garage requires a company parking decal. Signage is posted at the entrances of each employee parking area indicating decal designation acceptable for that parking area. The company also has reserved parking spaces and/or lots in which employees (based on their job) are assigned to a specific space for their use.

NNS Parking Map

Employees with any NNS decal can park in the following locations:

Warwick Boulevard Satellite Parking

One hundred parking spaces at the former Daily Press facility, located at 7505 Warwick Blvd., are available to Newport News Shipbuilding employees. Shipbuilders with any color NNS decal are eligible to park at this location. Signage has been posted to clearly define spaces available to NNS employees.

Transportation to and from this lot to 46th and 50th street gates is available. Shuttles will run this route continuously from 5 to 7:30 a.m. and from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Employees who need weekday transportation between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. should call (757) 282-9896 to arrange a ride.

Shipbuilders who do not have an NNS decal but would like to park in this lot should leave a note on their vehicle’s dashboard with the following information: first and last name, PERNR, department and a phone number. This will allow NNS Security to verify that the employee is authorized to park in the lot.

Note: Employees parked in spaces without proper credentials are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense. Additionally, due to security restrictions, shuttles cannot transport employees into the shipyard from an external route. Therefore, employees must get off the external shuttle, badge in and can then walk or pick up an internal shuttle to get to their worksite.

NNS decals should be displayed in a manner that is easily visible through the windshield of the vehicle and decals are not to be sold, transferred, borrowed or given to any other employee, Navy personnel, suppliers, contractors or any non-NNS employee. In addition, employees should be aware that NNS parking decals are the sole property of Newport News Shipbuilding and must be surrendered upon the employee’s termination from the company. Violators are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense, revocation of all company parking privileges and additional disciplinary measures as appropriate.

All designated handicapped spaces at NNS are governed by the same rules and regulations as handicap spaces throughout the state. Employees must have handicap license plates issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a temporary hang tag in the employee’s name – this must be on the vehicle or displayed whenever occupying a handicapped parking space.
